i have a 1968 mk2 cortina 1600e and im after doing an engine swap im after more power and reliabilaty i was thinking on a zetec any ideas

A 1600 E is becoming quite collectable in standard trim and fitting an incorrect engine will lower it's value. If you really want to do an engine swap then I would put the Essex 3 litre V6 in from a mk 2/3 capri.Or 2.5 litre V6 from a consul. It will go in easily enough but you will need the donor car gearbox and modified prop shaft cut down to the correct length. Stiffer front suspension springs to cope with the extra weight are a good idea as is a brake up-grade.A larger battery will help with cranking the big motor. Good luck with it & have fun.

Set the toe-in at 1/8 in for street or - tow-out 1/8 for racing on dirt.. set camber at 35 to 40 min.. If it wonders, give it 2 or 3 degrees castor.. you can find a repair manual at Amazon..

in the movie "Christine" at Darnells Reckers,when Christine is confronted by the bulldozer,it rams a mk2 Lotus Cortina,by my ,experience and judgement i believe that the car was genuine,can anybody share my opinion on this and i also believe that hollywood sucks when it destroys genuine collectors cars.

Hollywood does not destroy new cars, they find a lot of vehicles in the junkyard and do them up. U may see a few cars that are new, if they become scrap after the scene has been shot it matters not. They have a budget for these things, so dont fret about the destruction of a few cars.

which one would it be? i miss all my old cars,ive had capris xr2's xr3's rs turbo's mg metro's a cosworth to name but a few. my mate has a mk2 escort and a mk2 cortina. what old car do you miss seeing about?? (im thinking pre1990)

I miss my mg metro turbo as well!! Sold it for £600 when the turbo was going as I couldn't afford to fix it at the time. The day after it was used as a getaway car from a post office robbery and came home to find the street surrounded by police as they thought I had done it. Luckily I had an alibi, but I wish I'd kept hold of it!!
