I have just bought a large teak garden furniture set. I got it at a good price as the previous owner has used wood paint on the set and it's all pealing off! Does anyone have any tips on removing the old paint? I really don't fancy spending the next three weeks sanding it all down! Many thanks
If it is pure wood furniture you can go for natural varnish is synthetic base for low budget/or any colour es spry is also available in paint shop. Sand papering the {150 number paper for smooth}surface cleaning and applying 2-3 coat es by brushing or by spraying. And allow to dry naturally.
My garden furniture was out all last summer in the rain. I tried some off the shelf products but they don't seem to work. The black discolouration is very bad.
Assuming it's wood, wet a small inconspicuous spot and apply a solution of 1cup of household bleach to a quart of water to see how strong a solution you need. Let it soak for at least 15 minutes and then scrub with dishwash liquid soap and water. Do this on a sunny day.
There is a great garden furniture set in the new UK Ronseal adverts and on their website - its the 4 seater set with arms - I have called Ronseal to no joy - does anyone know where I can buy this set from??? Thanks!!
Most large specialist garden centres sell this type of furniture.
I am looking for an attractive, sturdy easy to clean & look after table & chairs for my garden. (possibly one thats seats 6 people) However, do not want to spend a fortune, can anyone recommended where i should go for this, i.e Argos, Robert Dyas etc I have never brought garden furniture before, so need to know whats good & whats not! Thanks
Plastic doesn't wear too well. My favourite garden furniture is the wooden type. It lasts for years if you apply some wood oil to it once a year & it looks lovely. It can be expensive, but I got my set from my nearest IKEA store (www.ikea.co.uk) & it was cheaper than some plastic sets I've seen in garden centres etc!
I have some lovely teak garden furniture I have had for several years and I am really pleased with it but this year some black spots have appeared on it, What are the black spots, why have they appeared and how do I clean them off? I want the furniture to stay natural looking if possible.
I also have Teak Furniture and have come across the black spots as well. A soft bristle brush and mild detergent (laundry detergent and water) work well. There are also commercially available teak protectors and teak oils. (We purchased our furniture from CedarStore.com and they have care instructions right on their website.)
